EDP Auditing: A Functional Approach
This book is a practical guide to EDP auditing. Its functional organization makes it much more than just a valuable reference manual. It was designed as a working tool for experienced internal EDP auditors. And, unlike some manuals that may be writen by individuals with little or no actual experience in the field of internal auditing, this book was written by a practicing internal EDP auditor and is based upon reallife experience. Many EDP auditing books provide good reference materials. However, those books are generally organized by topics, such as computer processing, controls, accounting systems, etc. They make for interesting reading because they provide general are used to look up some general background information on a spesific topic. However, they cannot be easily used as a working guide, because information is presented in a disjointed fashion, rather than in a cohesive, functional manner. In addition to providing ready-to-use, self-contained audit programs for all major types of EDP audits, this book has clearly written and easy-to-understand chapters devoted to each major type of audit. With this book, it is no longer necessary for you to first identify the major topics of concern for a given audit, the research those topics and, finally write an audit program. All you need to do is go to the approapriate chapter dealing with the audit you wish to accomplish. There, you will find a complete, ready-to-use, and self-contained audit program.
