Construction Accounting and Financial Management
Time brings changes to the field of construction accounting as it does to most other fields. The last few years have produced a number of impor tant changes. Back in 1965 the American Institute of Certified Public. Accountants (AICPA) published Audits of Construction Contractors, which for years was the bible for construction accountants. In 1981 this work was updated, expanded, and clarified by another AICPA committee of which Mr. Palmer was vice chairman. This important new work is enti tled Audit and Accounting Guide-Construction Contractors. It is accompa nied by an equally important publication of the AICPA, Accounting for Performance of Construction-Type and Certain Production-Type Contracts (SOP 81-1). This development alone has previously required substantial revisions of this book.
