Sukuk Negara is Sharia-compliant financial instrument issued by the Government of Indonesia to finance the State Budget, including financing the construction of projects. Since its debut issuance in 2008, Sukuk Negara has been successfully gained a huge interest both in the domestic and international financial markets. Currently, along with the various development efforts continue to be made on an ongoing basis, Sukuk Negara increasingly plays an important role not only as an instrument of state budget financing, but also as a catalyst in the development of Islamic financial markets in Indonesia. This book represents the result of the Directorate of Islamic Financing-Directorate General of Budget Financing and Risk Management, Ministry of Finance efforts in documenting Sukuk Negara management as well as in providing information on fundamental aspects related to the sukuk. This book is written in a simple style of language, expected to be easily understood by various segments of readers. Being systematically arranged on the discussed theme, this book consists of ten chapters, which includes a discussion of the Sharia (Islamic rules-based) finance, Sukuk, Sukuk Negara, Underlying assets, Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), the various structures of Sukuk, documents of Sukuk issuance, taxation aspects of Sukuk, trading of Sukuk in the secondary market, as well as Sukuk Negara Issuance for project financing purpose. To complete this book, in the final part we also enclose the Law Number 19 of 2008 on Sovereign Sharia Securities (Sukuk Negara), as the legal basis of Sukuk Negara issuances by the Government.
