Principles of Accounting is designed to be used in a comprehensive first-year accounting course that covers two semesters or three quarters. It presumes that the student has had no previous exposure to accounting. This book, like its companion, Financial Accounting, is based on two premises. First, knowledge accounting is important for all members of today's complex economy, whether they are in industry, government, and professional accountancy. With this in mind, this book is written to meet the needs of the general student as well as the needs of those who are prospective accounting majors.
